Hundreds of corpses of Boko Haram victims reportedly litter Gwoza Mountain in Borno state

Hundreds of bodies of some of the victims of Boko Haram attacks who fled from Gwoza community in Borno state are reportedly decomposing at the mountains that surround Gwoza community. A source who spoke with Sahara Reporters say most of the victims died due to hunger as they could not get food while they took refuge on the mountains during the period Boko Haram took their community hostage. "Many atrocities were committed by Boko haram insurgents during Boko Haram reign at Gwoza, most of the mountain unburied bodies lying down. Hundreds of corpses are still there. If you go to the these mountains around Gwoza axis you wouldn't be able to eat meats, sand has eaten some the bodies as many bones dry up due to heat" the source said

Queen of Versailles' Stars' Daughter Victoria Siegel Dead at 18

The teenage daughter of Queen Of Versailles stars David 80 and Jackie Siegel 49, has been found dead at the family's luxury Florida mansion. 18 year old Victoria Siegel was found unresponsive by sheriff's deputies at the Seagull Island mansion on Green Island Cove just after 2 p.m. on Saturday and performed CPR on Siegel. She was discovered by the family housekeeper and was rushed to Health Central Hospital in Ocoee, where she was pronounced dead. The family and their extravagant lifestyle gained international attention after the release of the 2012 documentary The Queen Of Versailles Investigators are working with the medical examiner to determine cause and manner of death, but it is rumoured  that she died of a drug overdose. Cash-for-votes scam: Chandrababu Naidu's purported conversation adds new twist

HYDERABAD: A purported conversation in an audio tape between Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and nominated MLA Elvys Stephenson, aired in a section of local TV channels, gave a new twist to the cash-for-votes controversy today. Parakala Prabhakar Advisor (Communications) to the Andhra government strongly denied reports saying that the tapes were fabricated and the AP government will take up the issue seriously. The reported conversation suggested that the Andhra CM was giving "assurance of all sorts" to the MLA if he votes for TDP nominee in the Telangana Legislative Council election. South Africa: Mbeki Decided to Donate the U.S.$10 Million to FIFA - Mbalula

Nigeria: Another Blast Kills 16 in Borno Market

A bomb explosion was recorded at a cattle market in Musari, on the outskirts of Maiduguri, Borno State, late on Saturday, with as many as 16 people dead, hospital and military sources said, in an attack that bore the hallmarks of Islamist Boko Haram militants. "At about 4:30pm on Saturday they brought casualties from the blast scene ... 16 bodies were deposited with 24 injured," a paramedic at the teaching hospital in Maiduguri, Lawal Kawu, told Reuters news agency. He said some of the injured were also in critical condition. Eyewitnesses said the blast in the small community destroyed many shops in the market and left a deep crater where the bomb went off.

18 dead as al-Shabab fighters attack Somali towns

Dozens of fighters from the armed group al-Shabab have attacked two towns in southern Somalia, sparking clashes with government troops that left at least 18 dead, according to a Somali military official. Mohamed Abdullahi, a Somali military commander in Somalia’s Lower Shabelle region, said the clashes on Saturday happened in Awdhegle and Mubarak townships, but that fighters were driven out after government troops launched a counter-attack. He gave no more details on the causalties, saying only that there were deaths on both sides, the Associated Press news agency reported. The fighting in southern Somalia came as gunmen attacked two Somali MPs in the capital Mogadishu, killing one. Yusuf Mohamed Dirir died in hospital after a group of men stopped his car and proceeded to fire at him and his colleague, Abdallah Boss, who escaped unhurt. Kano youths set Sharia court ablaze

Some Muslim youths on Friday stormed the Kano Government House and the palace of the Emir of Kano, Mahammad Sanusi II, to protest an alleged blaspheming of Prophet Mohammed (SAW) by a Tijjani preacher, Abdul Nyass. The protesters, armed with sticks and other dangerous weapons, stormed the streets of the city to express their anger over Nyass’ alleged blasphemous statements against Prophet Mohammed. The youths attempted to gain entry into the Kano State Government House, but were prevented by security operatives, who had hectic time calming them. Police storm suspected cultists’ hideout, kill 21

AT least 21 suspected cult members were killed by operatives of the Rivers State Anti-Robbery Squad in Egi community of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area. A source from the community explained that the incident happened in the wee hours of Thursday in a forest located between Egi and Egburu. It was gathered that security operatives, who got wind of the hideout of the cultists, stormed the forest and opened fire on them. The team that stormed the bush was said to have left the corpses of the suspected cultists in the bush while permitting the deceased relatives to get their bodies there. Ekiti crisis: 50 shops, two houses burnt

No fewer than 50 shops and two residential buildings located within the Oja-Oba market in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State capital, were burnt as the crisis between drivers and Hausa traders escalated on Friday. The arson took place at about 2am in spite of the dusk to dawn curfew imposed by Governor Ayodele Fayose on Thursday. Interestingly, the market, which is populated by people of different ethnic groups, predominantly Yoruba, is directly opposite the king’s palace. As of press time, the police had yet to announce any arrest made in connection with the arson. Traders cried uncontrollably on Friday, lamenting the loss of goods estimated to be worth several millions of Naira. 3-year Old Girl Who Was Abducted In Lagos Has Been Found In Ogun

On Sunday, April 19, two unidentified men sneaked into the Surulere Baptist Church, Ojuelegba Road, Lagos State premises and abducted a three-year-old girl, Oluwabunmi Ajelero. According to reports by Punch, the girl was playing with other children on the church premises at about 1pm when the kidnappers came in through the back of the church and tricked her out with Gala before whisking her away on a motorcycle. Oluwabunmi’s parents and other members of the church were inside the church immersed in the service when the incident happened. The service stopped when one of the toddler’s playmates alerted the congregation to the incident. Apparently, the captors had pretended as members of the church and established rapport with children in the church. Court bans deployment of soldiers for elections

A Federal High Court in Lagos on Monday declared as unlawful, the deployment of soldiers for maintenance of security and order during elections in the country. The declaration was made by Justice Ibrahim Buba in a judgment delivered in a suit filed by a member of the House of Representatives, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila. Buba’s pronouncement was the third of such declaring as unconstitutional, the use of soldiers during elections. The Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal had, on February 16, made a similar pronouncement while ruling on the appeal against the judgment of the Ekiti State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal which upheld Governor Ayodele Fayose’s victory. The appellate court had cited and relied on an earlier judgment delivered by Justice R. M. Aikawa of the Federal High Court in Sokoto ‎on January 29, 2015 barring the use of the armed forces in the conduct of elections. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Zamfara, lost one card reader during the training of ad-hoc staff in Anka Local Government Area, an official has confirmed. Alhaji Garba Galadima, INEC Head of Voter Education and Publicity in the state, who confirmed the incident on Sunday in Gusau, said security agents, were investigating the matter. Reacting on the issue, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Sunusi Amiru said the police had already arrested some suspects in connection with the stolen machine. He said investigation had also commenced to unravel the circumstances behind the missing machine. Amiru expressed the command’s readiness to ensure peaceful election in the state, saying that “we will not tolerate any threat to disrupt election process and we have to ensure full protection of INEC materials”. He called on members of the public to cooperate with security agents and the INEC to ensure successful elections.

The players of Kaduna United FC on Wednesday appealed to the management of the club to pay their one year salary arrears for 2013/2014 season. The Assistant Captain of the team, Ali Adam, told newsmen in Kaduna that some of the players had left because of the non-payment of the salary arrears.
