Candidates task DESIEC on Ugborodo poll results
WARRI—Two councillorship candidates who contested last month’s local government election in Delta State on the platform of All Progressives Congress, APC, have called on the satae’s Independent Electoral Commission, DSIEC, to immediately correct certain anomalies which characterized the aftermath of the polls at Ugborodo, Warri South-West Local Government Area of the state.
While commending the commission for conducting a credible election, Sunday Asawa and Frank Akpieyi lamented that certain opponents who contested against them were desperate to undermine the credibility of the polls by moving to obtaining mandates not granted them by the electorate.
Akpieyi, who contested for councillorship of Ugborodo Ward I, alleged that the PDP seemed to be hell-bent on unlawfully obtaining a certificate of return against the will of the people, while Asawa protested the non-issuance of a certificate of return to him, alleging that he defeated his opponent at the polls by scoring the highest number of votes.
