NAPTIP rescues 70 in Benue

MAKURDI—No fewer than 70 persons have been rescued by National Agency for the Prohibition of Traffic in Persons, NAPTIP, from human trafficking syndicates in Benue and neighbouring states.
This was made known yesterday by Mrs Tina Ugwu, Zonal Head of NAPTIP in Makurdi, Benue State capital, at a sensitization programme organized by the agency for stakeholders.
She said the agency recorded the feat in the last few weeks, stressing that the onslaught against traffickers in Benue and neighbouring states under the zone had gained momentum and would be sustained to ensure that those behind the business were stopped.
She urged the public to always avail the agency of any information that would aid its work to ensure that the menace was tackled effectively.
Director General of Radio Benue, Mr. Elvis Attah, lauded NAPTIP for enlightening the public on the dangers of child and human trafficking.
