Osun APC: Protests greet alleged planned imposition

By Gbenga Olarinoye OSOGBO—Protesters yesterday stormed the state secretariat of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Osun state chapter, over alleged plan by the party’s leaders to impose candidates for the 2015 general elections. Specifically, an aspirant for the House of Representatives on the platform of the party, Mr Ayodele Kusamotu, accused the state leadership of the party of denying him the nomination form. Several protesters, who thronged APC secretariat yesterday alleged plans by some influential members of the party to impose their preferred candidate on the party against the wish of other members. Addressing newsmen in Osogbo, Kusamotu, who is vying for APC ticket for Ifelodun/ Boripe/ Odo Otin Federal Constituency, said after paying mandatory sum of N200, 000 for expression of interest and N2 million for nomination form, yet, the form was not issued to him. He further explained that on the day of the screening for APC aspirants,when attestation form was given to him, and an item on the form demanded that he should confirm the information supplied in the nomination form, he was confused since nomination form has not been issued to the aspirants in the state. When contacted, the Director of publicity, media and strategy of APC, Mr Kunle Oyatomi, said that only genuine members of the party were given the nomination forms.
